7 commandments of a good website

1. Simple

Simplicity is beautiful! An internet user is a person who likes simplicity - that's why he's using the internet! He wants to gain access to information in the simplest way possible, without wasting time on figuring out how. This is why the websites he enters should immediately reveal the information he requires, in a simple and legible manner. The CLIENT does not choose to buy a product or service because the website is graphically appealing, but because it allows him to purchase the product / service or gain access to information in a simple, straightforward way.

The website should be the background for the products or services it promotes. That is why graphic elements should be used sparsely, and the website creator's efforts should be focused on exhibiting the products or services in the simplest possible way.

Prestige and luxury are often linked with minimalism and avoiding superfluous elements.

2. Intuitive navigation

When surfing the web, we want to reach the information we are looking for as soon as possible. That is why simple and intuitive website navigation is so important. An internet user shouldn't be confused what to click on to reach the information he needs. Often multiple links to the same site are used on one page, so that the viewer may have access to important information right under his fingertips. In the example below, to get information concerning a given product, the viewer may click on its photograph on the top of the page, on the miniature next to the short description, or on the text link. Thanks to this solution, wherever the viewer clicks, he will be redirected to the information he needs.

3. Minimalism

Too many elements can be disorienting, and can make finding what we are looking for more difficult. A website's purpose is to convey information about a product or service in the simplest way possible, and to encourage the client to call or email a company if he requires more information.

4. Images for users, text descriptions for web crawlers

An internet user uses his eyes to browse the web - and decides whether or not to purchase a product based on what he sees. That is why an adequate graphic layout and good photographs are so important. The internet user does not read long descriptions, unlike web crawlers. If we want to optimize our website's position in the web and boost our sales, our first concern must be the CLIENT - who requires short, to-the-point descriptions. Longer descriptions can be placed on the bottom of the page or the client can be redirected to longer descriptions by clicking on the "more" link.

5. Different from the rest

We all want to be special. That is why we expect exceptional services and products – which will not only fulfill our expectations, but also give us a sense of uniqueness. Our websites should thus be exceptional and unforgettable.

6. Containing concrete information

We search the web looking for concrete information. We expect websites to contain precise, to-the-point data. It is thus reasonable to reanalyze the content on our websites, to make sure it provides important information, and compels the internet user to want to add it to his "favorites".

7. Based on proven solutions

Proven, perfected solutions are often more reliable than innovative ones. This does not mean we have to forsake novel ideas. It is enough to construct a website based on verified projects and outfit it with imaginative graphic designs and cutting-edge interactive elements.
